Batemans Brewery’s new look

2024 is the year that Batemans Brewery celebrates 150 years in business, and along with the wider company celebrations, the directors decided to refresh the company’s branding and pump clips.

The company, which has been a continuous presence in the village of Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, started from humble beginnings in 1874. For 150 years the company has been serving craft beers in the 51 Batemans Brewery’s pubs and to their free trade customers.

Over the last century and a half the company has come through two world wars, a keg beer revolution and a near buy-out, following a family share disagreement. More recently, there was the Covid-19 lockdowns and the energy price increases, which affected many breweries and distilleries across the UK.

Both the new logo and re-designed pump clips are easily recognisable as ‘Batemans’, which take inspiration from the company’s craft brewing heritage.

It was also important to the directors that the new identity should position their business as one that is looking to the future and ready to embrace the next phase of growth, and in doing so reinforcing their motto: ‘Tradition with Ambition’.

The new identity was launched in January and the clips are now ready to be rolled out, with a brand new pump clip for their celebratory beer: Five Generations 4.2% ABV, which is described as: “a light amber pale ale, brewed with Maris Otter pale and oat malts, with smooth biscuity flavour and a delightful hop aroma of peach, pineapple, mango and passionfruit”.

Five Generations, which not only celebrates the company’s sesquicentennial anniversary – but also heralds the arrival of the fifth generation of Batemans joining the family business – will be served alongside their main core range of cask beers: XB, Triple XB and Yella Belly Gold.

Here at Hand Crafted Drinks Magazine we toast this achievement – Batemans Brewery celebrates 150 years in business and we would like to wish the company every success in the decades ahead.
