Three British artists are at the forefront of an innovative and unique range of craft spirits that reproduces their artwork on bottle labels.
Modern Art Distillery (MAD) has launched a new line of flavoured gin, vodka and rum featuring paintings by new and emerging artists from across the country, with a first series that includes works from England, Scotland and Wales.
The aim is to have a regularly changing programme of bottle artwork to accompany a creative selection of spirit flavours, allowing a range of contemporary artists and artistic themes to be promoted.
The first series of bottles is now available at selected retailers, bars and online, and features the work of three artists for a series themed ‘Connections’.
The label produced by Chris Pompa, an abstract artist from Cardiff, is a mixed media mosaic collage, entitled ‘Simpatico’ and is featured on Modern Art Distillery’s Blueberry & Bergamot Gin bottle.
Scottish-born John Goldsworthy is a figurative artist whose watercolour artwork, ‘Rhythm of the Rum’, appears on the Strawberry & Honey Spiced Rum bottle.
Alice Bulmer, a botanical artist from from Bideford in Devon, produced an acrylic painting is entitled ‘Hibiscus Kiss’ and was designed for the Watermelon & Thyme flavoured Vodka bottle.
The artists were delighted to have been commissioned to create unique artworks that will be seen by MAD’s growing number of customers.
Modern Art Distillery was launched in 2021 by Caroline Harrison & Catharine Russell, who first met at university. Three decades later they decided to join forces and draw on their many years of diverse professional experiences and a shared love of art that would underpin their new venture.
The company was established to be a melting pot of art, ideas and spirits. Caroline and Catharine work with some of the country’s leading master distillers and diverse range of both established and emerging artists.
They also work with photographers and designers, gallery owners and social media gurus, whose respective expertise comes together to infuse their range of craft gin, vodka and rum with the true spirit of creativity.
