My name is Emma, I am Five Fathoms Spirit.

I make small batch spirits from my distillery based near the Humber Estuary. I traditionally create spirits that reflect a journey across land and sea. I attempt to capture the essence of the timeless flow of the tides and unite it with botanicals from across the globe.

My spirits are an expression of depth and whilst made in a traditional copper still are a sea-change from the customary.

I have a deep connection with the sea. Growing up a stone’s throw from the water’s edge on the Suffolk coast. A childhood of roaming empty beaches, fishing and sailing in coastal waters and far flung places.

Since settling in the region I have come to realise that my distillery and the spirits that emerge there should connect with the Maritime history of the Humber Estuary and with my own history and bond with the sea.

Five Fathoms Spirit was born from this. A year was spent creating individual distillates, blending and perfecting until a recipe revealed itself as the first Humber Dry gin.

It was time to launch.
