Hogg Norton has Great Taste

Hogg Norton, a Chesterfield-based producer of alcoholic liqueurs, has once again had their products recognised at the Great Taste awards.

The independent company’s Elderflower Liqueur was awarded one star and the judges awarded two stars for their Chocolate Liqueur.

Great Taste is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme, with products from across the world being tested by a panel of over 500 experts.

Hogg Norton has now won a dozen Great Taste awards in total, having gained recognition in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

Mike Norton, one of the co-founders of Hogg Norton, commenting on the awards said: “We are so pleased to have won Great Taste awards for another two products this year!

“Continually winning Great Taste awards is a fantastic way of getting feedback from the very best in the industry that we are consistently making great tasting liqueurs.”

Explaining what people can expect from sampling the award-winning products, Mike said: ”Our Elderflower Liqueur has a delicate and floral taste, which captures the essence of summer in a bottle.

“This liqueur offers a light, refreshing flavour that is perfect on its own, over ice, added to champagne or prosecco for an elegant summery spritz; with soda water for a refreshing long drink or add to gin or vodka to create your own delicious cocktail.”

Mike Norton and Adrian Hogg, the founders of the company, are passionate about their products, which are produced using the freshest fruit possible – the majority comes from their farm on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

They don’t use any additives or preservatives so all the colour and flavour comes just from the fruits, which means they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and are naturally dairy and gluten free.

Initially produced for their own use at barbecues and parties, Mike and Adrian soon realised that their liqueurs were very popular with friends and family, and so they took the decision to start producing commercially.

Production moved from a storeroom to a garage and then, as demand continued to outstrip supply, they converted a barn to the state-of-the-art production facility they have today.

Despite the various relocations, the one thing that has remained constant is the natural products, pure fruit and high grade organic distilled alcohol, which ensure that the full flavour of the fruit comes through, delivering a smooth, velvety feel rather than an alcoholic burn.

At Hand Crafted Drinks Magazine we celebrate and support artisan and independent producers, which Hogg Norton epitomises, and we look forward to bringing you their latest news.
