Wolftown goes for gold

At the end of 2021 Wolftown Gin won a gold medal at The Europe International Wine & Spirits Trophy 2021, which took place in Luxembourg.

The Europe Wine & Spirits Trophy is the biggest and most prestigious wine and spirits competition in Europe, with 85 high profile judges, including top buyers of wines and spirits, along with importers, distributors, retailers and sommeliers.

Wines and spirits are entered from 45 countries and are all ‘blind tasted’ and includes wines and spirits already selling in the market, together with those wanting to sell across Europe. The Europe Trophy is  unique because it singles out those wine and spirits brands that consumers really want to buy

Commenting on the award John McKeown, founder of Wolftown, said: “The sheer number of extremely qualified judges involved and the chance to compete with thousands of excellent spirits from around the world, plus the stringent judging criteria of quality, value and packaging, makes an award from the Europe Wine & Spirits Trophy a special one.

“We are delighted that our Wolftown Gin performed so well at the competition. This Gold Medal demonstrates that the gin we produce is the kind that buyers and importers in Europe will want to stock and will further our ambition of being sold on the continent.’

Wolftown is a drinks brand, which launched in 2019, is based in the festival town of Ulverston on the edge of the Lake District. Their first spirit represented the flavour of Furness and was branded around the Nordic origins of the town. Their second release, calls to mind the Mediterranean with confident flavours of grapefruit and lemon, complemented with organic British oats, milled at Little Salkeld Watermill, near Penrith.
