The Coghill family, who own Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s Bar & Kitchen in Dunfermline, have just launched The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack in South Queensferry, which officially opened on 12 June.
The new restaurant, which has created over sixty jobs across both kitchen and front of house, is the result of a significant investment of over £350,000 from the family, whose Dunfermline venue has attracted a loyal following.
With an expansive open kitchen at its heart, where customers can watch the team of chefs at work, The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack has a relaxed, stylish, nautical theme, inspired by The Hamptons, in New York’s state – the exclusive seaside resort and a destination for seafood lovers.
Offering high-end fish and chips, this vibrant new eatery showcases all types of fish, crab and lobster, alongside seafood native to the coast of Scotland, sourced from the most trusted, high quality suppliers of sustainable fish and seafood.
Along with fish and chips, which is already set to become a firm favourite, the menu includes dishes with an Iberian touch for which Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s is known, and which have made the bar and kitchen such a success.
There’s squid with chorizo jam, crispy tempura oysters with buffalo aioli, Singapore crab and whole lobster piri piri.
The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack, together with Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s Bar & Kitchen in Dunfermline, are supporting the Cash For Kids as their chosen charity partner, for which they raised £450 on the night of their soft launch.
Cash For Kids supports many young people and children who would otherwise go hungry during the school holidays when schools meals and additional support is not available.
Having visited and reviewed Jack ‘O’ Bryans in 2023 – a first class venue with an impressive menu and wine list – we were keen to feature this story; we certainly look forward reviewing the Coghill family’s newest venue.
Although this news item is about a venue and not a drinks producer, the owners are working with Alva-based Harviestoun Brewery who are supplying craft ales and lagers.
The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack has also launched its own range of ground coffee.
With the leisure and hospitality sector still facing significant cost pressures, it is very encouraging to see an independent family operator invest in their business.
Family businesses across the United Kingdom are the backbone of the economy who should be encouraged to grow, invest and expand, which would help boost local economies and create much-needed jobs.
We wish the family every success going forward.
