The super-premium rum, Andrés Brugal Edition 02, at £2,420 per bottle, is probably the most expensive spirit we have featured.

Developed by the company’s fifth-generation Maestra Ronera, Jassil Villanueva Quintana, this exquisite rum has been meticulously crafted as a tribute to the distillery’s founder, Andrés Brugal, and the Brugal Maestros Roneros who followed in his footsteps, whose tireless efforts took Frugal to international acclaim.
In 1888, when Casa Brugal was founded, the Dominican Republic was relatively unknown, but the distillery has undoubtedly played its part in putting the country on the map. Today, the Dominican Republic is the most visited country in the Caribbean and is the seventh largest economy in Latin America.
Edition 02 celebrates the spirit of exploration that defines the company and pays tribute to the USA, of one of the places with which the family has a strong history and legacy.

The journey of this unique expression begins with the selection of four rare American oak casks, chosen for their undoubted ability to enrich the rum with depth and complexity.
Each cask contributes its unique character, which is meticulously blended to create a spirit of exceptional quality, building on Brugal’s rich history with the USA and the families unwavering pursuit of perfection.
At just under £2,500 per bottle, we don’t expect any press samples, but we do know that the market for rum is growing year-on-year, and that as consumer demand is changing – increasing numbers of people are consuming less alcohol, but are very demanding in the quality of what they choose to drink.

With Brugal’s 135-year heritage and the relentless pursuit of perfection, discerning customers would have to go a long way to find a finer rum.
