That Gin & Cocktail Bar

Warwick-based That Gin & Cocktail Bar was officially opened earlier this year by the Mayor of Warwick. Owner Steve Bazell agreed to a Q&A session so we could find out more about his new venture.

What is That Gin & Cocktail Bar all about?
We are a fun new concept bar that takes our customers on a journey of discovery like no other. Gin and cocktails are at the forefront but we do sell house spirits, wine, prosecco, rums and bottled beer.

What makes you unique?
We believe that we have the largest made to order gin offering in the UK. Everything is made to order on site.

We want to enable people to explore different flavour profiles by talking to us about what they enjoy so we serve the right drink for them from our extensive range.

It’s all about finding ‘your’ perfect drink.

How is it done?
We have two distinctive ways of selecting gin. The first is by infusing our own flavours to give unique products for customers to have something they have never had before. The second is selecting gins from a range of distillers that we feel have a distinctive back story or specific flavours.

As well as the traditional gins, more than 100 different flavour infusions can be created on request, from juniper and floral gins through to fruity offerings such as pineapple, watermelon, passionfruit and Sicilian orange and, for spice lovers, pink pepper,

Black Pepper and Cardamon or Jalapeños gin
Those with a sweet tooth can also choose from a desserts range, including Cherry Bakewell, Black Forest Gateau and Biscoff.

No bespoke gin will ever be exactly the same on each visit so there’s even the option of bottling your new-found favourite gin to take home or pair it with a signature glass and stainless steel straw as part of a gift set.

What do you offer non-drinkers in the party?
We also have a range of alcohol-free gins and mocktails plus there’s a food menu, specially selected to complement the gin experience, including sharing boards, afternoon teas and a range of homemade cheesecakes – even G&T flavour, which is proving to be popular.

How has the pandemic impacted the business?
We only opened in May and, as with any new venture, we are learning rapidly and trying to implement all the changes as we go. Customers have been amazing and incredibly supportive. They are always forefront in our minds and with the latest relaxing of the restrictions we want to ensure that the customer experience still plays front and centre.

I have a strong feeling that town centres can thrive but businesses now, more than ever, have to offer a unique kind of experience that you just wouldn’t get online. So hopefully this is the format to get town centres vibrant again, by offering something different and independent. It supports a thriving local economy and helps it to move forward.

After 18 months of missed celebrations and get-togethers we are delighted to be able to host parties of up to 60 again in our private hire room.

I love citrus/fruit combinations so clementine and blackberry
