Stunning new glassware

We were delighted to receive one of the most beautiful glasses we have ever seen – the Josephine No. 10 from Josephinenhütte, a company founded in Germany and led by design director Kurt Josef Zalto.

Josephine No. 10, the new glass from Josephinenhütte, is a hand-blown glass and designed to showcase the world’s finest spirits.

The unique shape, inspired by nature, allows the complexities of premium distillates to unfold, as design director, Kurt Josef Zalto, explains: “Fine spirits are more than just spirits – they are the essence of hand-selected, fully ripe fruits, presenting their aromas in their purest, most concentrated form.”

Having experienced spirits in the new glass, award-winning mixologist Oliver Ebert (and owner of Beckett’s Kopf in Berlin), was impressed: “The Josephine No. 10 offers a complete sensory experience for the nose, eyes, and lips.

“Anyone who believes they know all the nuances of a distillate should try this glass, as it acts like a filigree microscope, revealing undiscovered aromas.”

The slightly outwardly curved rim allows fine spirits to flow more slowly into the mouth, giving them more time to unfold their flavour.

The precisely calculated opening of the aroma funnel allows the nose to perceive aromas even while drinking, which further enhances the taste expression of the spirit.

In developing the glass the company involved countless tastings with distillers, sommeliers and spirits experts, including Billy Wagner, owner and sommelier of Nobelhart & Schmutzig in Berlin, who was one of the first drinks experts to be convinced by the new glass: “The Josephine No. 10 is a game-changer for the enjoyment of high-quality spirits.”

Kurt Josef Zalto’s Josephine No. 10 is a stunning creation that takes glassware design to another level and undoubtedly reinforces Josephinenhütte’s motto: The shape of taste through highest craftsmanship, sensory precision and a passion for unparalleled enjoyment.
