The owners of Stockport Gin, Cheryl and Paul Sharrocks, have just announced that they are moving their company’s distilling operations from their garage to a new distillery in the centre of Stockport.
Stockport Gin, which launched in March 2019, produces a range of multi-award winning gins and was named as New Business of the Year at the North West Business Awards 2020/21.
Commenting on their relocation, Cheryl said: “Since we launched we have always worked from our modest garage at home, but it is safe to say we have very much outgrown this now! We’ve been looking for larger premises for some time now and with the plans we have, a location in the town centre suits us perfectly.”
At the new distillery there will be a retail outlet where people can visit to sample and buy their gins and they will also be stocking a range of other products from local producers. The owners also have plans to organise events at the distillery, including tours and gin tasting evenings.
The new premises are essential for the company to continue to keep up with demand, as Paul explained: “We have known for some time that we need to move to larger premises if we are to continue to grow the business, but we also want to create a place for people to come to and see exactly what we do and how we do it. Stockport town centre is the perfect location for us to be able to do this and we hope to create a distillery that we can not only work from but that will draw people to the town from further afield.”
Work will begin on the new distillery in the near future and the couple hope to be fully operational by early summer 2021.
