Seventy One Gin launches in NYC

At the end of November, Seventy One, the definitive luxury gin – conceived and meticulously composed by legendary photographer, Mert Alas – was launched at a private soirée at The Mercer, SoHo’s foremost luxury hotel.

Everyone attending the strictly private event, included Friends of Seventy One – Alexander Skarsgård, Natasha Lyonne and sisters Amelia Gray and Delilah Bellen – were greeted with the indulgent Seventy One Golden Martini designed by world-renowned bartender, Simone Caporale, of Sips Barcelona.

One of New York’s most stylish destinations, The Mercer has always been a home for the fashion and creative communities, embodying the effortlessly cool spirit of Downtown New York, located on the iconic corner of Prince and Mercer.

The Seventy One Golden Martini has become the iconic cocktail at the most fashionable parties around the world, spotted in the hands of fashion icons like Madonna, Donnatella Versace, Stefano Gabbana, Mariacarla Boscono, Eva Herzigova, Joan Smalls and Alton Mason.

The production of this exquisite gin is meticulously planned using the finest botanical absolutes, each individually distilled to reach their apogee of expression.

Every small batch is ‘touched’ with top notes of the exceptionally rare Queen of the Night cactus flower (Selenicereus Grandiflorus), which blooms once a year – and only at night.

The final composition of the gin is then rested for 71 days in a selection of virgin Spanish oak, ex-Pedro Ximenes sherry casks and ex-Cognac casks, ensuring the botanicals gently marry. Each cask is carefully blended, for unparalleled richness and complexity.

Seventy One can be savoured at some of the world’s most sophisticated bars, including Chiltern Firehouse, The Connaught and The Savoy, in London, and La Réserve and Le Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris.

It is available at luxury retailers in the UK, including Selfridges, and it is also part of the prestige selection at Hedonism Wines. Seventy One is available in 70cl bottles (£168) and 20cl bottles priced at £63.
