Inspirational Inigo

Earlier this year Jon Travers-Smith, a British bartender, launched a cocktail brand called Inigo, whose range can be served straight from the bottle as a non-alcoholic option or mixed with alcohol, to create a variety of cocktails.

The motivation for creating the new range was Travers-Smith’s belief that non-alcoholic drinks should not be a compromise; that they should be every bit as compelling as their alcoholic-infused counterparts.

This is why each variety of Inigo’s new range work as a stand-alone non-alcoholic drink, but, as we found, they provide an excellent foundation on which to create a classic cocktail or to do your preferred tipple.

We were sent a bottle of Inigo Bitter Riot to sample, which we enjoyed chilled, over ice and with various accompaniments.

On its own Bitter Riot was excellent and could easily replace a traditional cocktail, especially if you’re a nominated driver or simply wanting to reduce the amount of alcohol you drink. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.

If you do mix with alcohol, the sky’s the limit, as Bitter Riot is an extremely flexible base. We variously sampled Inigo with prosecco and brandy, which worked extremely well.

The bitterness providing a contrast to the chilled sparkling wine and with brandy it would make for a perfect winter cocktail, warming and complex.

Launching with three varieties, Earl Grey Martini, Korean Paloma and Bitter Riot, whose bitter-forward tropical taste worked perfectly with ginger and aromatic spices.

All three varieties (Early Grey Martini; Korean Paloma and Bitter Riot) are suitable for vegans, made with 100% natural ingredients and are free from preservatives, artificial sweeteners or added colour.
