With the clocks having now gone back to GMT, the nights are well and truly ‘drawing in’, as my grandfather said every year, as we edged ever closer to the cold winters ahead.
But, it’s not all bad. What’s better than heading out for a bracing winter walk and then coming back to a warm house and pouring something soothing.
At this time of year the obvious choices include mulled wine, port and sherry, but this year we have our eye on something that looks quite special.
Blacksmiths SP, from Northumberland Spirits, is a delicious blend of Alnwick Sloe Gin and the finest Portuguese Ruby Port.
The owners of the distillery have had this tantalising blend of sloe gin and port described as the ‘ultimate after dinner drink’.
Unfortunately, we can’t comment because we have yet to sample what looks like a strong contender to become our choice as this year’s ‘Christmas in a bottle’.
