Inspired by nature

When Sally Hawkins, a university lecturer, was walking in the heart of rural Sussex, where elderflower blooms were abundant in the hedgerows and birdsong filled the air, she felt a calling.

Mother-of-two, Sally, a passionate forager who cares about the environment, asked herself a simple, but powerful question: why can’t cocktails care for the planet too?

Her answer was to launch Conscious Cocktail Company, whose mission is to produce high quality, hand-crafted ready-to-drink cocktails – firmly rooted in nature, transparency and sustainability.

Commenting in the launch of this environmentally-friendly brand, Sally said: “In an industry often dominated by overly processed, mass-produced drinks I wanted to offer something refreshingly different: cocktails with provenance.”

Discerning customers are increasingly interested in where their drinks come from and what goes in to to making them, which is good news for authentic brands like Conscious Cocktail Company, who have made a deliberate decision to avoid artificial flavourings and sweeteners.

Conscious Cocktail Company also donates a portion of every sale to The Wildlife Trust, helping to protect the habitats from which many of the foraged ingredients are found, as Sally explains: “We are more than just another canned drink; Conscious Cocktail Company is built on values.

“We believe quality shouldn’t cost the Earth and that is why sustainability informs every decision – from British-grown botanicals to our recyclable packaging.”

The brand is launching with three varieties, described love letters to the English countryside: Meadow Mojito with calming lemon balm and meadowsweet; Hedgerow Martini, rich and deep, with rose hip and honeysuckle, and Wild Spritz with floral notes of pink elderflower and organic English rose.

In describing the cocktails, Sally is understandably enthusiastic: “These beautiful cocktails elevate the drinking experience. We would love our customers to be inspired by nature too and to look at the countryside with fresh eyes of appreciation for Mother Nature.”

The company’s strapline – Raise your consciousness; raise our cans – reinforces the company’s commitment to the planet, wellbeing and good taste.

The company has ambitions to have their cocktails stocked by high-end retailers, including Fortnum & Mason and Harrods, but the immediate aim will be to promote their range to venues and food outlets in West Sussex, at the official brand launch on Thursday 3 July.

So, whether you’re a cocktail lover, a conscious consumer, or someone who appreciates a touch of luxury with integrity, these drinks promise a fresh, elevated experience.
