When we heard that Badger Brewery had launched Badger Red Rascal Cherry Mild we were intrigued and delighted in equal measure, especially when we received several bottles to sample.
We were also not sure how the cherry would work when incorporated into a beer. However, all doubts evaporated when we took our first few sips of this 4.0% ABV cherry mild.
The notes of fresh cherry were perfectly balanced with bitterness of roasted malt and dark caramel, delivering an almost nutty finish.
Mild it may be in name, but deliciously complex in nature, this is a beer that we would be happy to sample again and again.
